Celebrating a century

St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Millmerran will be celebrating 100 years of service on 12 June.

St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Millmerran in 1922.

With the catastrophic events throughout the world today it is sometimes difficult to find a reason to celebrate.

However we need to recognise how fortunate we are and pay tribute to the untiring efforts of our pioneers.

Over 110 years ago, pioneer men and women in the Millmerran district resolved to purchase a block of land and build a Presbyterian Church.

Much of the fundraising was held during the difficult years of World War 1 and during years of drought which increased life’s difficulties for the farmers and graziers attempting to build their livelihoods in and around the newly formed township of Millmerran.

Perseverance paid off and the St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was built in a prominent position in the town and opened on 9 June 1922 by the Moderator General of the Presbyterian Church in Australia.

On Sunday 12 June 2022, St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will celebrate 100 years of service to the community of Millmerran.

The celebration will include a service, light entertainment, slide show, photographic and memorabilia display, luncheon and the sale of a souvenir pen and a book on the history of the church’s 100 years.
