Clifton Jockey Club ready for races
With the Clifton Races less than two weeks away, Clifton Jockey Club has left no stone unturned on its quest to make this year’s races a day to remember.
Club President George Cross said club members had been working hard all year to ensure that every aspect of the racecourse is in tip top condition for Saturday 23 October.
In early winter, volunteers worked on straightening 700 metres of rails on the northern side of the racetrack.
Installed last year, the new flat undercover area will see its first Clifton Races, with one third of it to host the bookmakers and the other two-thirds open for the public.
There have also been new fences and a gate put on the saddling enclosure.
Mr Cross said the club has worked on improving its storage capabilities by improving the storeroom by building a brick floor.
The storeroom will be used to store among other things chairs, which the Jockey Club hires out for commercial purposes and to community organisations.
When it comes to preparing facilities, every-thing has been accounted for to make the 2021 Clifton Races as good as possible.
