Fiery week as temps climb
As temperatures soared over the past week, fires raged across multiple sites in Queensland, including at Springside where a swathe of farmland was scorched last Sunday.
Three Queensland Fire Service and 20 Rural Fire crews were assisted by water bombers as the blaze crept towards a house and barn in warm and windy conditions.
First reports of the fire were received around 10am and it was brought under control by mid afternoon.
Oakey Pittsworth Road was closed for three hours.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a car was dumped and burned at Scrubby Mountain (inset) in the early hours of last Wednesday.
Police said the stolen car had been driven to the site and destroyed as offenders fled the scene in another vehicle. Investigations are continuing.
Police are also investigating a serious theft a Scrubby Mountain address in which a safe containing five firearms was stolen.
The break-in and theft occurred between February 7 and 12.
