Hodgson Vale embraces new café
Home to more than 1,400 residents, the emerging community of Hodgson Vale now has a new destination for breakfast, lunch and everything in between: Sayller’s Brew.
Hodgson Vale’s new café has been started by two friends Hayley Miller and Maree Say.
Since opening on 8 January this year, Hayley and Maree have been overwhelmed by the community’s support.
Maree and her husband Dan have lived in the Hodgson Vale area for around 16 years.
Hayley is from Roma and has experience as a manager of a café there for five years.
The two came to be friends through the sport of motocross.
Hayley said she and Maree have been toying with the idea of starting a café for a couple of years now.
They had originally considered just having a coffee van.
The wheels started turning more quickly when the shop-front, which had been home to a hairdresser, became vacant.
Fast forward to January, which saw the opening of the business.
Hayley said the first month of operation has been good.
“A lot of kids have been coming in with mum and dad and realising how fast the coffees are,” she said.
Aside from coffee, customers can enjoy a array of freshly baked cabinet food.
Plans for the future include having a drive-through, subject to council approval.
Hayley said she and the rest of the team are hoping this can happen soon.
For those travelling into Toowoomba from areas such as Greenmount, East Greenmount and Cambooya, the café is conveniently located just off the New England Highway.
