Mother's Union marks Friendship Day

St Andrew’s Mother’s Union Pittsworth recently hosted their Deanery Friendship Day with 46 in attendance.

Bishop Cam Venables celebrated the Eucharists assisted by Parish Priest  Toni Swannson.

Pittsworth member Anne Scott who is the vice-president Western Region made a posthumous service award presentation of a
60-year badge and scroll for Phyllis Blanch to a family member, Helen Blanch, (right).

Deanery president Ann Stall assisted.

Branch president Romona Postle read a report on Phyllis’ membership that started in Miles in 1962.

In 1979 she moved to Chinchilla and served six terms as president before shifting to Pittsworth in 2007.

When she was unable to attend Mothers Union she joined the IPC.

Phyllis passed away on February 7 of this year.

Sue English was unable to attend to receive her 10-year scroll due to her husband’s hospitalisation in Brisbane.

Bishop Cam blessed a briefcase for the president in memory of Dawn Beck, a past member.

Her family donated funds to the branch and as a result an inscribed plaque was placed on the case in her memory.

Her daughter Cheryl Bates was present for the blessing and joined in the morning’s proceedings, helping Carol Langton cut our the anniversary cake after the service.

Guest speaker Bishop Cam presented his message through his guitar music
and songs about friendship with God in times of love, grief and joy.
