Allora’s Spectacular Undercover Arena officially opened

The all-weather all-purpose undercover arena at the Allora Showground received $340,495 through the Federal Government’s Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants pro-gram in May 2020.

Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud was in Allora last Thursday to officially open the Arena. The Minister is seen here with the Principal Contractor Barry Glass, Vice President of Show Society Hugh Huston, President of Show Society Shirley Cornhill and sub-contractor Wayne Lyons.

President of the Allora Show Society at the time Mark Pillar was pleased that now the future of the Allora Show was secured. Mark was the driving force behind the project and knew exactly where the arena should be built.

Barry Glass from Allora Engineering and Welding was appointed the Principal Contractor for the project.  Due to outside forces such as Covid, rain, wind, supplies and staff shortages the arena was completed in November 2021 with only some ground works to be finalised.

As well as the construction of the Arena the Show Society received a grant of $124,960 to renovate and upgrade the can-teen and bar with Mark Pillar overseeing the project.
