‘Tribute tree’ incorporated into Hike to Heal

New to the Hike to Heal Scavenger Hike this year is the temporary installation of a Tribute Tree at Mount Peel Bushland Reserve during the hike week long event.

Members from the Toowoomba West Men’s Shed with the Tribute Tree.

The Tribute Tree was designed and constructed by members of the Toowoomba West Men’s Shed.

On the tree, you can write a message in loving memory of someone special or words of encouragement for someone struggling with mental ill health.

It is a poignant way to express your love.

The tree will be located at the trailhead near the car park at the Corner of Westminster and Darling streets, Drayton.

Hike participants are invited to dedicate their walk to a loved one lost to suicide or managing mental ill health.

They can craft a short, personalised message, a person’s name or just a kind word to the leaf shaped memory tag with the permanent marker provided at the site.

Hike organiser Linda Barton said the intention is to help create a climate of hope and healing amongst our community.

Hike to Heal runs from Saturday 19 February to Sunday 27 February at Mount Peel Bushland Park or a chosen destination.
