Yarning Circle Opening

As the name suggests - a place of talking where everyone is equal with emphasis on respect, discipline and knowledge.

On Friday (November 17) the Allora P-10 State School hosted Kenjin Elder, Aunty Isabelle and Kambuwal-Kamilaroi Elder, Aunty Selena at the opening of the School’s Yarning Circle.

Proud Kamilaroi-Kambuwal student, Shakoba welcomed all to Country while Mirri, from the Wakka Wakka Nation, performed a smoking ceremony and traditional welcoming songs on the didgeridoo.

Family joined in the special ceremony with the whole school community participating in this culturally significant yarning circle.
