Allora on flood watch

Residents of Allora should be alert of potential flooding and stay home unless necessary following sustained rainfall that shows little signs of easing up.


Lower parts of Jubb Street along the Dalrymple Creek are already experiencing flooding as the water continues to rise.

An Emergency Alert was issued for residents of Allora at 8.45pm last night by Southern Downs Regional Council. 

As of this morning, Friday, since Last Thursday 5 May Allora has seen approximately 110mm of rain.

The headlands of Dalrymple Creek has experienced significant rainfall yesterday and this morning.

The New England Highway between Allora and Warwick has been closed as has Allora Drive over Dalyrmple Creek and there is significant amount of water of Warwick Allora Road.

Allora State School has been closed today.

As of 9:20am, Dalrymple Creek at Allora is at 6.8m well above the major flood level of 5.5m and still rising.

An Emergency Alert was also issued for Warwick at 12:20 this morning. It advised that the Condamine River is likely to exceed the moderate flood level of 6m early Friday morning and with forecast rainfall, may reach the major flood level of 7m Friday afternoon.

It reached 6m at 5:07am and as of 9:39am today, it is at 6.93m and rising. O O Madsen Bridge has been closed.
