Clifton Celebrates Historic Day
More than 100 residents and distinguished guests were in attendance for the grand opening of the Clifton Museum on a beautiful day last Saturday.
You could feel a sense of relief in the air among the Clifton and District Historical Society volunteers who have worked tirelessly to get the museum ready for opening day.
It is estimated the man hours they have spent working on the building was worth around $80,000.
Their efforts were certainly not overlooked by Clifton residents who have clearly missed having a museum in their town after the old butter factory was knocked down in 2016.
Member for Maranoa David Littleproud, Member for Condamine Pat Weir, Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio and Councillors Nancy Sommerfield, Carol Taylor, Geoff McDonald, Melissa Taylor, Tim McMahon and Kerry Shine were there to show their support.
Mr Littleproud and Mayor Antonio both spoke of the importance of having attractions like this to help promote regional towns.
The Clifton Museum is now open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am until 2pm.
