Liberal Party tops funding for Groom by-election
Figures released by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) reveal that the Liberal Party received the largest slice of public funding for the 2020 by-election conducted in the seat of Groom last November.
The total amount of election funding paid out for the by-election is $235,037.58.
This included $41,377.00 in automatic payments and $193,660.58 in claims accepted.
The largest payment made was to the Liberal Party, which received $145,789.69.
The Australian Labor Party (ALP) received $66,481.50; the Liberal Democratic Party $12,422.25; and the quaintly-named Sustainable Australia - Stop Overdevelopment, Stop Corruption $10,344.25.
The by-election was won by LNP (Liberal-National Party) candidate Garth Hamilton.
