Sheppard Road, Wyreema afflicted by extensive damage

Toowoomba Regional Council is continuing to assess damage to the region’s roads and other infrastructure from the declared natural disaster, the ‘South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, 22 February – 7 March 2022’ event.

Infrastructure Services Committee chair and Local Recovery Group chair Cr Carol Taylor said Shepperd Road at Wyreema was one of many roads damaged during this event with Council now undertaking temporary repairs to the drainage culverts along this road.

Council’s intention is to re-open the road to two-way traffic as soon as possible however this is dependent on Council procuring suitable culverts to repair the recent damage.

It is currently anticipated the road should be re-opened to two-way traffic in about two weeks subject to weather conditions during that time.
