Come and Try Day a hit with new players

The Clifton Recreation Grounds are in stellar condition as we start to head into polo season, providing a picturesque setting for the Come and Try Day.

The event encouraged players of all abilities to give polo a go at one of the oldest polo clubs in Queensland.

Attendees were coached by Club President and 4-Goal professional polo player, Will Gilmore, alongside star club members Jack Mantova, Dan O’Leary and Alastair Cochrane.

Players looking to give polo a go for the first time travelled from as far as Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast to try country polo at its finest at the Downs Polo Club.

On the day they were treated to some famous Darling Downs hospitality with home baked goods for morning tea and a barbecue lunch courtesy of the club.

The event was truly a team effort with club members pitching in and working hard to ensure the day ran smoothly.

The polo season is almost upon us here in Queensland.

The Downs Polo Club is gearing up for the opening tournament of the season on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April, with tournaments running throughout April and into the first weekend of May.

Tournaments are also held at the Clifton grounds in June and throughout July.

Check out the Downs Polo Club social media pages, on Facebook and Instagram, to keep up to date with all the latest news and events.
