Oakey Junior Cricket Club raises awareness for important cause
The local club has put its support behind Toowoomba Cricket’s initiative to raise awareness for mental illness in the community by dressing up in green as part of a special Mental Health Awareness Round.
Oakey Junior Cricket Club players from all teams impressed by standing out with bright green outfits and painted faces.
Local Master Blaster player, Xavier Gitsham, caught the eye of Toowoomba Cricket thanks to his tie-dyed shirt which featured the #dontgetstumped message.
The Oakey club member won two Brisbane Heat tickets for this hard work in promoting the cricket-themed mental health hashtag.
The special cricket round was held in conjunction with Queensland Mental Health Week which
ran from October 9 to October 17.
