A special show moment for mother and daughter

Peyton Alexander Smith and her mum Katrina Alexander have been enjoying shows together for years but never in the same arena together - until, that is, last Friday and Saturday at the Pittsworth Show 2023.

Peyton has been riding - and competing - since before she could walk.

In fact, she won her first two events as an 11-months-old being led by her grandmother while Mum, Katrina, was competing in the other ring.

Pre-toddler Peyton won both her events that year at the Hughenden Show but fast forward a few years and  she was in the same ring riding alongside her Mum in the hack ring.

“This was the first time we’d been in the ring together and she almost had me in one of her classes,” proud Mum Katrina said.

“It was the first time we’d been together for supreme  hack.”

The Supreme Local Hack ribbon went to their team mate Amber Kahler.

It is more than straight out riding prowess that has been handed on to the next generation here - Peyton was also riding with the cane her mother used for many years.

Katrina, competing on Farleigh London Apprentice and Peyton, on Cheraton Brandy Snap, scored seven Champion titles and six Reserves between them over the two days of the Pittsworth Show, last Friday and Saturday.

Show organisers said while it was disappointing that showers and rain forecasts kept some away, the show has nevertheless been a great success.
