A spectacular comeback
After last year’s program was scaled back due to the Cyclone Alfred (which never eventuated here) the Pittsworth Show returned this year better than ever! On March 6 and 7, the Show Society delivered a spectacular celebration of the community that will be remembered for years to come.

Much of the success is due to a small, industrious group of individuals who have given endless hours of time and energy to ensure the Pittsworth Show is a true representation of our region.
The steady rainfall managed to hold off until Sunday, with any passing showers just enough to settle the dust, as about 3,500 people were welcomed through the gates.
A major highlight for families was seeing Bluey and Bingo with two interactive experiences, and two meet and greet sessions.
Many of the youngsters left the grounds wide-eyed, proudly declaring they had just held the paw of Australia’s favourite blue heeler.
At the official ceremony on Saturday, Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said regional shows are a true reflection of their communities.
“They bring people together, they celebrate agriculture, particularly in these parts of our region, and the important role that agriculture plays not only to our region, to the state, but in fact to the nation. And Pittsworth is definitely a powerhouse,” Mr McDonald said.
He thanked Darby Stephens for singing the National Anthem, and highlighted the importance of encouraging the younger generation to be involved in the Show movement.
Two of the Mayor’s fellow councillors, Carol Taylor and Trevor Manteufel were in attendance.
Pittsworth Rural Ambassador Jane Krautz had the great honour of opening the Show.
“The Pittsworth Show is more than an event on the calendar, it’s a celebration of who we are,” Miss Krautz said.
“It represents our hard working farmers, our local businesses, our volunteers, our families and the strong community spirit that makes Pittsworth so special.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our region.
“It’s early mornings, long days, resilience through droughts and floods, and a deep love for the land.
“The Show gives us this opportunity to showcase that dedication.
“From livestock and produce, to crafts, machinery, and the incredible talent in our community,” Miss Krautz said.
“I’d like to sincerely thank the Pittsworth Show Society along with the volunteers, sponsors, and committee members, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
“Your commitment and passion ensures this tradition continues year after year and our community is stronger because of you.
“To our competitors and exhibitors, whether you’re in the ring, in the pavilion or cheering from the sidelines, thank you.
“You are what brings the Show to life. Your pride, preparation and willingness to be involved is what makes today [Saturday] so vibrant and exciting,” Miss Krautz said.
President of the Pittsworth Show Society, Paul Fuhlbohm, was asked to present life memberships to two very deserving and humble candidates.
As the Show Patron, Eddie Fuhlbohm, was unable to attend the official ceremony, Robin Krieg, who was President of the committee for 19 years, assisted with the presentation.
The first life membership was bestowed upon Lynette Pearce for her dedication as a judge and steward in the food and cookery section of the pavilion over the last 70 years.
A woman of few words but many actions, Mrs Pearce simply thanked everyone for the honour of life membership.
Jenny Green was the second candidate to receive life membership.
She spent many years running the Show with former President Robin Krieg, and it was her knowledge, experience and calming presence that has been an immense help to the committee, particularly this year.
“I love the Show,” Mrs Green said.
“It’s an amazing event we put on, it takes a huge amount of work but the current committee are wonderful, we have lots of laughs, lots of fun, and everyone really puts in a huge effort, for that I’m thankful.”
Mr Krieg said Audrey Fisher did a marvellous 28 year stint as secretary before Mrs Green came on board to assist with upgrading the system to use modern technology.
Mrs Green’s mother was also secretary of the Show for a time.
President, Mr Fuhlbohm, said that there were no two people more humble or deserving, of life membership.
He extended a sincere thank you to all the Show Society’s sponsors and the public for participating in this year’s event and hoped more people might be willing to assist in bringing next year’s Show to life.
Whether it is in a large or small way, a helping hand can go a long way!
