A splash of colour at Clifton High
There’s a lot happening at Clifton State High School right now, including the addition of a colourful mural on the western wall of the science block.
The mural is the work of Donna Mitchell, who had been a full time teacher but is now on the relief staff of Education Queensland.
Donna lives at Hendon and loves painting.
Her talent comes through in the mural that adorns the western wall of the High School’s science block.
The School’s Head of Junior Curriculum, Rebekah Turkington said the idea for the art work came from Year 7 agriculture students, who care for the garden beds adjacent to the wall.
They students thought it would be a good idea to brighten the otherwise drab wall.
Mrs Turkington said the wall is eye-catching as you travel along the Gatton-Clifton Road (appropriately, part of Opportunity Drive) from the town area of Clifton.
She said as well as being appealing the new mural is a nice reflection of what the school is all about.
The work was funded from school improvement funds.
There is plenty else happening at Clifton High at the moment with new multi-purpose hall under construction, the new equine centre being established and a new toilet block scheduled to replace the old facilities for students and staff.
The investment in these infrastructure projects is in the vicinity of $11 million.
