A splashing success
The sky may have been grey but that certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of students and teachers at the annual Pittsworth State High School Swim Carnival on Friday.

House pride was on full display as the vibrant colours of red (Beauaraba), blue (Condamine) and yellow (Yandilla) swarmed Pittsworth Civic Pool.
Despite a gloomy wet weather forecast, the carnival went ahead as planned, running a full and action-packed program of events.
Swimmers tested their speed and endurance across a range of races including the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and the challenging 200m individual medley.
Whether competing for records or simply giving it their best shot, every student who stepped up to the starting blocks was met with enthusiastic support from their housemates.
A highlight of the day was the traditional Year 12 class swim at 10am - a much-anticipated event that marked the first of the “lasts” for the graduating cohort at interhouse sporting events.
With plenty of laughter, splashes and a few competitive bursts of speed, the moment was a memorable one for the senior students as they soaked up one of their final school carnival experiences together.
House swims were scattered throughout the day, ensuring maximum participation and spirited competition.
Importantly, every student who took the leap into the pool earned a valuable point for their house in the race for the House Championship.
Thankfully, the final events were completed just before the rain, which by Saturday had settled into a nice soaking fall.
The carnival showcased not only athletic talent but also the strong sense of school spirit that defines Pittsworth State High School.
While the points for the House Championship are still being tallied, the winner and age champions will be announced in the next edition.
