Allora’s First Roundabout
On Monday afternoon the Roundabout, on the corner of Warwick and Forde Streets, was open to traffic.

The installation of the roundabout was announced in September 2022 by the Department of Transport and Main Road (TMR).
At the time the TMR said an analysis of the crash history highlighted the need to improve safety at the intersection.
Motorists from every direction will have to slow down as they approach the intersection.
All hands were on deck at Allora’s roundabout site last Friday with the final laying of bitumen. All the line marking, pedestrian crossings and road signs will happen this Thursday or Friday.
During the construction the workers on site were very impressed with the students from St Patrick’s School.
The students were very polite, obeyed the road rules and waited for instructions before crossing the road. Workmen want to remind everyone who uses the crossings to Stop, Look and Listen.
How to use the roundabout
Sergeant Damian Grace - OIC Allora Police Station
With the opening of the new roundabout in town, local Police are asking all drivers in the local community, simply to slow down on approach; check and take your time before deciding to enter and go through or turn.
Make sure your way is clear, with nothing on the roundabout, nor entering particularly from your right - when you must give way.
This includes ensuring that no pedestrian is intending or using the crossings on any exit, as you don’t want to be caught blocking the way while waiting for a pedestrian or cyclist to cross.
The two main rules being “all vehicles entering the intersection must yield to those already circulating. Additionally, drivers exiting the intersection must signal their intent (left or right) before doing so”.
It may take some time to get used to, but please exercise care, patience and a little bit of common sense.
