Another big purchase by Nobby stud
Heavyweights of the Santa Gertrudis world Scott and Wendy Ferguson of Glenn Oaks and Wave Hill Santa Gertrudis at Nobby recently made a sizeable buy.

The Fergusons, alongside Luke and Carly Baker of Annabranch Santa Stud based at Wandoan purchased Glenalbyn Umpire 968 from its Wellington, New South Wales, based owner for $70,000.
Glenalbyn Santa Gertrudis said Umpire is a standout son of Glenn Oaks Palo, a sire renowned for his exceptional genetics.
Palo was purchased in 2020 for a record-breaking breed price of $126,000 in partnership with Munnabah Santa Gertrudis.
Umpire boasts exceptional figures of 135 EMA and 20/13 for fat, showcasing his exceptional growth and quality.
“We had noticed him on social media and were both impressed and keen to follow up with an inspection,”the buyers said.
“His impressive bone along with adequate muscle, depth of body and softness were all things we were looking for - all this wrapped up with his colour, character, sheath, and testicles made it an easy decision.
“We both had been admiring Palo’s consistent line of calves and when studying his dam line revealed some very successful cow lines that have proven records.”
The Fergusons and the Bakers are no strangers to big sales.
In September 2022, the Glenn Oaks Stud set an Australian record for the Santa Gertrudis breed, selling Glenn Oaks Sterling S314 for $175,000 at the Santa Central sale in Clifton to Carly and Luke Baker.
