Bears sign premiership winner Brandon McGrady
The Oakey Bears have made a fast start to the off-season, signing former Ipswich Jets back and 2021 TRL premiership winner Brandon McGrady from the Warwick Cowboys.

McGrady comes to Oakey with an impressive resumé having played in the Queensland Cup with the Ipswich Jets in 2015, and subsequently having won premierships with his home town club Goondiwindi in 2021, and Warialda in 2024.
The Harristown State High School teacher is an impressive kicker in general play, and can play at both halfback and centre.
A club spokesperson said McGrady would bring experience to the club.
“He broke our hearts last year playing for the opposition but now he’s one of us!” the spokesperson said.
“We’re pumped to have Brandon McGrady in black and white for 2026.
“His experience, skill, and strike power will light up The Den this season.”
Along with McGrady, the Bears have announced that Oakey’s 2025 Most Consistent Player Dylan Chown and 2025 Best Back Joey Alberts have both re-signed with the club.
Joining coach Ash Taylor next year will be assistant coach Aaron Burgess.
Off the field, a new committee has been elected consisting of Ben Schweitzer (President), Amy Brooks (Treasurer) and Sharnie Eising (Secretary).
