Open Women

The Bears attack clicked and how! The women put together their combinations and capitalised handsomely against last year’s runners-up, Gatton Hawks.

“Every girl on the team did their job and did it well,” coach Cam Donaldson said.

Oakey Bears 46 (Grace McLauchlan 3, Casey Lingwoodock 2, Kiara Taylor 2, Lorna Murray, Ruby Wharton, Emmie Creevey tries Cheyenne Zirbel 3 goals) defeated Gatton Hawks 0

Men’s A Grade

The Bears brought the contest to premiership favourites Gatton in a steely display at The Den.

Gatton was excellent in its attacking execution all night, especially Tom Luhrmann who continually turned the Bears around.

Oakey tried hard to keep in contact with Gatton and to their credit, never dropped their effort.

At half time, the score was Gatton 16 Oakey 12 and we had a game on our hands.

But, Gatton dug deep and showed why they are the side to beat in 2025.

James Robinson and Shannon Hicks were excellent for the Hawks and helped keep Oakey scoreless in the second half.

Richard Murray was Oakey’s  best with Tony Clevin trying hard all day.

The Bears host Highfields next Saturday across all three grades in an important match for the men, and the women who are playing last year’s champions.
