Women’s

Oakey 46 def Dalby 0

Oakey were far too good for Dalby, running out 46-0 winners on Saturday

Clarissa Jane showcased her trademark running abilities, while Kylie chimed in with two tries.

Similar to their previous clash at The Den, there was a clear gulf in class between the two sides.

The Bears were too physical and exposed Dalby’s edge-defence on multiple occasions.

Goalkicking was an issue for the Bears women, and one they will need to fix come the big games.

The ladies will have a bye next week in the women’s comp.

Oakey 46 (Clarissa Janes 3, Kylie Janes 2, Mireka Young, Jarna Smeeton, Annastasia Salote-Collins, Poppie Collins, Erikana Dean tries, Bina McLoughlin, Erikana Dean, Kylie Janes goals) defeated Dalby 0

Men’s A Grade

The scoreline flattered the Bears, who were throughly outplayed by the Cowboys on Sunday.

With a scoreline of 14-8 Warwick’s way at the break, it looked like it could have been a very different game.

Oakey came off at halftime with the momentum, and hopes were high amongst the Bears faithful that they could carry that energy into the second half.

However, ill-discipline, dropped balls and poor defensive reads killed off any chances of a Oakey victory in the second-half.

Warwick made most of the running before switching off in the last five minutes when Letuia Eliu scored some dead-time four-pointers.

It was a disappointing performance from an Oakey side who would have been hoping to catch an out-of-form Warwick off-guard at Father Ranger Oval.

Coach Herman Ene-Purcell said his side failed to carry through the momentum through to the second-half.

“Our own mistakes ruined it for us,” he said.

“I think in that first 25 minutes of that second half we didn’t complete a set.

“We know that when we can hang onto the ball, we can score tries.”

Fullback Dylan Adamson said it was a tough game.

“Warwick’s always tough at home,” he said.

“Our better players were Dylan Court, who never quits, and Komiti Vetemotu.”

The men will play Pittsworth this Saturday at The Den.

The Danes will be hungry for blood after thrashing Highfields 64-16 at home.

Warwick 44 (Mitch Wilson 2, Anare Vala, Nicholas Chapman, Patrick Donn, Damien Beresford, Morgan Byrne, Caleb Murphy tries, Caleb Murphy 6 goals defeated Oakey 20 (Letuia Eliu 2, Komiti Vetemotu tries, Dylan Adamson 4 goals)

Reserve Grade

Warwick 44 def Oakey 4

Warwick’s slick passing and superior ball-running skills were on display throughout as the Oakey reserves were outclassed.

Coach Laurie Stewart’s absence was firmly felt, as the Bears appeared directionless.

Warwick 44 (Joseph Wagner 2, Iowane Berra, Tanna Alldridge, Carl Gale, Ben Lyons, Nicholas Donghi, Augustus MacDade, Dee-Jay Wallis tries, Jayden Clevin 2, Noah Duncan, Joseph Wagner goals) defeated Oakey 4 (Kalani Savelio try)
