Biggest Morning Tea bigger than ever

The Clifton Senior Citizens Centre was packed to the rafters last Wednesday for what is becoming an increasingly popular annual event, the Biggest Morning Tea co-hosted by the Senior Citizens and the Clifton QCWA branch.

Nearly 100 locals packed the building for the charity fundraising event.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious morning tea and a multitude of raffle prizes.

Organiser Alice McKenzie from the Clifton Senior Citizens Club said the turnout was so good that there were almost too many in attendance.

“It was way above my expectations,” she said.

The total raised from 97 attendees was $3,010 which will be donated to the Cancer Council.

“I want to thank everyone - the whole community for pulling together and having fun at the same time,” Ms McKenzie said.

“I want to thank our volunteers from the Clifton Senior Citizens and the Country Women’s Association who did the hard work and the helpers who set up the day before.”

Last year’s Biggest Morning Tea saw an attendance of around 60 and over $2,300 raised.

This is the fourth year the Clifton Seniors and Clifton CWA have held a Biggest Morning Tea.
