Bittersweet: Heritage farewelled
People First Bank staff from the closing Oakey branch were farewelled on Friday morning at a barbecue organised by the Oakey Chamber of Commerce ahead of an Online Banking Workshop on Monday (16 March) 2pm-3pm at the Oakey Cultural Centre.

Sausages and steakettes were cooked by the Oakey Lions Club and consumed by a trickle of community members who came to pay their respects to the well-liked staff of the local branch.
Outgoing People First Branch Manager Mitch Rider has become a respected and active member of the Oakey Chamber of Commerce over the past year and will continue to attend meetings.
The bank is running a workshop in Oakey next week to help people learn about online banking and to assist customers who do not wish to change banks, but can’t travel to Highfields or Toowoomba.
It will take place next Monday (16 March) from 2pm to 3pm at the Council Service Centre at 64 Campbell Street.
Attendees are advised to bring along their own phone, tablet, or laptop to learn all the basics of online banking and transactions.
