The development application was submitted by Precinct Urban Planning on behalf of owners D.S.P. Investments Pty Ltd, based in Victoria.

The site for the proposed development is 1-5 Fitzgerald Court, comprising three lots from the Karara Gardens estate, on the corner of Umbiram Road and Fitzgerald Circuit and next door to Wyreema Early Education.

A planning report submitted as part of the application says the proposal includes a single storey building nearly 500m2 in size, including a 490m2 supermarket and a 90m2 café.

“The development seeks to meet an immediate need for additional retail services for Wyreema,” the planning report said.

“The café is located in the prominent south-eastern corner of the building facing the intersection of the two streets.

“... the café tenancy at the south-eastern corner includes outdoor dining to improve street activation on Umbiram Road.”

It is proposed vehicle and pedestrian access will be via Fitzgerald Circuit and the carpark will include 28 spaces.

Noise from the premises will be curtailed by a 2.4 metres high acoustic barrier along the western and northern boundaries. which adjoin Wyreema Early Education and a private dwelling.

Engineering, stormwater management, external lighting and acoustic reports were submitted as part of the application.
