Local businesses and community groups reported huge days as visitors flooded into town for the weekend’s Showcasing Pittsworth program staged by Gardens of the Downs and Pittsworth District Alliance (PDA).

Bottlebrush Café owner Anthea Mylonas reported her busiest weekend since opening 14 months ago.

“It was brilliant, a lot of fun,” a beaming Anthea said.

Top Paddock Clothing owner Renee Elsden said her Saturday of trade was “an exceptional day” as a constant stream of customers checked out the new season’s range.

“Everyone you talk to says it’s pretty busy everywhere,” PDA president Bob Holzheimer said on the day.

“It certainly puts a few dollars in the tills of the shops and food outlets.”

Pittsworth Garden Club president Val Hohn was delighted by the work put in around town in collective efforts to “showcase Pittsworth as the very lovely, friendly town that it is”.

“I would like to thank our Garden Club members for the work and support they gave to our Blooming Pittsworth event (at St. Andrew’s Church Hall),” she said.

“I cannot name them all but I will mention Denise Farrell’s beautiful idea for our decoration of the stage, ably assisted by Robyn Steger and the talented ladies of our club.”

“Thank you also to the locals who supported us and the many garden clubs who were in attendance as well as the stall holders and visitors.

“A credit to everyone.”

Showcasing Pittsworth included open gardens around town, bus tours to the live music in the park, market stalls and exhibitions.
