Brookstead steam train adventure
About 120 people boarded the steam train at the DownSteam Railway Station in Drayton on Sunday morning for an adventure through the countryside to the Brookstead Community Hall, where passengers enjoyed a camp oven luncheon, and vintage machinery display.

Ros Scotney, Chair of the DownsSteam Railway and Tourist Museum, said the day was a success and only made possible by the collaboration of many volunteers.
The efforts of all those involved in the day’s preparation was deeply appreciated by her and the DownsSteam crew.
“We are blessed with volunteers,” she said.
Upon arriving at Brookstead, passengers climbed aboard the Darling Downs Transit buses for the brief journey to the community hall in Madelaine Street.
The Brookstead Camp Oven team had been working hard since the early hours of the morning to prepare a variety of camp oven meals for the passengers.
The Pittsworth Ukulele group, which was at the Women’s Shed Open Day in Pittsworth earlier that morning, entertained guests over lunch in the hall.
Lloyd Gillam organised an exceptional display of old machinery, engines and vehicles.
One former Pampas resident who travelled out on the train, said the trip was wonderful and provided a different view of the countryside in this area.
