Busy Time Ahead for Museum
At the annual general meeting of Allora & District Historical Society (ADHS) all executive positions were filled by existing members.

The Patron is Ray Shooter, the President Jim Anderson; Vice President, Kev Hurley; Secretary, Wendy Free; Assistant Secretary and Treasurer, Kaye Mullins; and Research Officer, Colin Newport.
In his annual report President Jim Anderson said the Society is incredibly proud of all the accomplishments made during the year.
“From Wassell House Removals, Jandowae, a very generous quote to relocate the two buildings/museums from Drayton Street to our Warwick Street precinct, was the key to starting our fund-raising efforts,” he said.
“Starting with initial ADHS funds of $15,000 a ‘thermometer’ was placed in the Allora Advertiser as a gauge to reach the target of $73,000.
“After a few months it exceeded all expectations with a total amount of $83,000.
“At this point we would like to thank all the donors for what has been achieved together.
“What a great community!
“Thank you.
“When the buildings are relocated to Warwick Street and ready for visitors, an honour board will be hung in the School of Arts with all the donors’ names.”
Mr Anderson said at the Heavy Horse Festival, society members, with assistance from other community volunteers, also manned the gates and camping, raising more funds.
“Another fund raiser is the online raffle,” he said.
“It has been launched in partnership with the Gordon Family of Gordon Country camping at Goomburra who generously donated 5 x two nights’ camping for four people valued at $1542.”
Mr Anderson said the Society had welcomed bus tours and opened for 10 days during the Jumpers & Jazz festival with 130 visitors coming through the museums.
“With a grant from Qld Seniors Month with the theme ‘Connect and Celebrate’, a Bridal Extravaganza & High Tea will be presented on Saturday 11th October 2025 starting at 1.30pm in the Allora Community Hall,” he said.
“Our ladies have put a lot of work into making this a memorable occasion.
“Because we are running out of storage space, ADHS has applied for a grant to build a new shed at 53 Warwick Street to house century old farm equipment.
“I would like to thank our executive Wendy, Kaye, and Kev and all volunteers for their commitment to the big workload we have had this year.
“The results have been far greater than our expectations.”
