Cambooya hall gets swank new kitchen
With some left over funding and some help from Toowoomba Regional Council, the Cambooya Hall has been fitted with a brand new kitchen space which allows it to cater to the community.
The previous kitchen was fit for purpose 20 years ago, but was struggling to keep up with the needs of the hall, President of the hall committee, Joseph Goltz said.
“The hall’s getting busier and it needed to be more functional and be able to provide a better service to the community.”
Toowoomba Regional Council owns the hall, and Mr Goltz couldn’t praise the Council enough for its part in making this happen.
“Council was more than willing to help out with the services,” he said.
With leftover funds for a grant the hall committee bought the upgrades, and the council provided the labour.
“So we provided the fittings, they provided the labour and now the community has a much more open and more functional, useable facility,” Mr Goltz said.
“In Cambooya it’s their hall and the pub is the only thing they have - I’m very, very pleased, extremely pleased.
“I’m very grateful to Leah and the committee who organised it and everyone gets to benefit now.
”I urge people to support what’s on there, it’s run by volunteers and with the kitchen this is great for the hall,” he said.
When the On Our Selection News popped in to the hall last Friday to see the new kitchen, the team was hard at work cooking up nachos for Saturday night’s Drag Bingo, which was already sold out, with locals apparently grumbling that they couldn’t grab a ticket.
