CDCA North juniors win Bell Family Shield Game II
The best of Oakey’s junior cricketers took out a combined Pittsworth/Millmerran side to claim the second match of the Bell Family Shield at Pittsworth on Sunday.

The team, officially a CDCA North representative side had to forfeit the first game, as half the side was playing for a Toowoomba side in Brisbane that day.
That meant that they needed to win to keep alive their hopes of retaining the Bell Family Shield.
South won the toss at the Club Pittsworth Oval on Short Street and sent North in to bat.
North put together a solid total of 204 with Ben Schmidt retiring on 50 runs.
He was well supported by the McCormack brothers, Corbin scoring 44, and Sonny scoring 28.
South needed a big batting effort, but by game end they were short 96 runs, thanks to top-notch bowling from Will Bartkowski (3 for 11 off 5 overs), Noah Kucks (2 for 6 off 4 with one maiden), and Riley Scheuerle (2 for 9 off 4 overs with one maiden).
Wicketkeeper Sonny McCormack took three catches.
Knight was far and away South’s best batter and the game only finished when he was dismissed for 50.
“Congratulations to our North boys coming away with a win,” a North spokesperson said.
“Comments were made on how well mannered the kids were which is a credit to them.
“All the boys supported and encouraged each other and played well as a team.
“Particular mention to Mikey Volz, Jacob Bartkowski and Reggie Ehrlich coming up from younger stages to give us a team of 10 which also included Sonny McCormack.”
A third and deciding match is slated for Sunday, January 18th at the Oakey Cricket Ground.
