Sponsored by Dickson Ag, this is the richest event of its kind in Australia offering some $3000 prizemoney with the Champion in each section taking home $600 and the Reserve $400.

Prior to the Champion of Champions event, the RNA Stud Sheep competition was held to find the entrants eligible from the RNA for the Champion of Champions event. Sheep were accepted from the Pittsworth, Inglewood, Allora, Clifton, Warwick, Toowoomba and Mt Gravatt Shows.

There were sixty eight sheep at Pittsworth for the RNA competition covering seven breeds of sheep with Stud sheep from Milton Park, Sovereign Poll Dorset, Plainview,  Silverdale studs and three schools.

Although the Ekka was cancelled in August due to the ongoing pandemic, the RNA has worked hard to stage 22 out of 55 competitions COVID Safe to keep the Show spirit alive.

Chair of the RNA Wool Committee Will Roberts said the RNA was delighted to be able to run the competition at the weekend and it was great for those exhibitors who have spent days, weeks and months preparing their entries.

“This means competitors’ hard work will continue to be recognised and the highly coveted champion blue ribbons can still be awarded, despite the Ekka’s cancellation.”
