CSHS teacher and team logistics manager Keiran Carson said he was still buzzing following the two teams’ performances in the final round of the Queensland Pedal Prix Super Series.

The race was a 16 hour endurance event held at the Brisbane International Cycle Park at Murrarie.

“After a massive effort where the boys racked up a 34 lap lead (which equates to about an hour of racing) and the girls beat everyone in both the Senior Girls and Senior Mixed category by more than 50 laps, both teams came away with the win,” Mr Carson said.

“As such, both are now officially the 2025 State Champions for the series.

“Claiming the championship is a massive achievement for any school but to take out both the Senior Boys and Senior Girls category is an incredibly rare feat.

“Congratulations to both teams.”

Mr Carson said attention is now turned to Murray Bridge in South Australia, where the biggest Human Powered Vehicle race in the world, the Australian Human Powered Vehicle Super Series, is taking place in less than three weeks.

He said the school is only taking one of the vehicles, the ‘Nemesis’ used by the boys team.

Over the coming days it will be stripped down, re-painted and have new stickers put on it to best represent our town of Clifton, Queensland.

CSHS is the only stand alone high school in the state sending a team to South Australia, with other teams made up of mixed participants.

The Murray Bridge event is taking place from Friday, 19 September to Sunday, 21 September.

To raise funds for the national championships, the HPV teams have been holding a massive raffle over the past few months with prizes donated by local businesses.

“A cherry on top of the weekend was that the team heading to the nationals in South Australia was able to present the major prize to the winner of our recent raffle” Mr Carson said.

“Congratulations to Joanne Brown on her new Weber barbecue pack.

“Both teams would like to thank everyone who has supported them on their journey to become the 2025 State Champions.”
