The race meeting, held on the 28th of October, was a huge success and this only happened with the help of many volunteers working in all sections.

Community members helped run the marquee luncheon, manned the three bars and canteen, acted as race judges and barrier staff, Clerk of the Course, fashion judges, gate and parking attendants and helped set up before and clean up after the races.

The race track was in great condition thanks to Bruce Gilbert from Toowoomba Regional Council.

Without these people the committee would not have been able to successfully run the race meeting.

A special thank you to Raff Hardware, Gerard Nolan Contracting, Oz Concreting and Allora Independent Steel who this year sponsored the Wheelbarrow Raffle allowing the club to donate to a local community group for 2023, the Clifton Scout Group.

The committee presented the Scouts’ representative, Brad Jones, with a cheque for $2170, to go towards up-dating camping equipment.

The Scout Group must also be thanked for the great job they do in keeping the grounds neat and tidy throughout the race day by emptying rubbish bins and collecting cans as a fundraiser.

Each year the Jockey Club donates to a variety of community groups and not-for-profit organisations both locally and in Toowoomba.

This year Clifton Lions Club, Can Do Cottage and Life Flight will receive donations.

The Club thanks each of its volunteers and sponsors and is looking forward to working with them again on 26th October 2024 (to be confirmed by Racing Queensland).

Those who are unable to attend meetings but would like to become a volunteer or member, please don’t hesitate to contact Margaret Cross, Secretary, on 0487 176 203 - we are friendly, great to work with and can be very social.
