Clifton Races going ahead

With rainfall not as severe as some predictions had it, the Clifton Jockey Club has decided to proceed with the Clifton Races this Saturday, 22 October.

As things currently stand, racegoers can expect a full schedule of racing, betting, Fashions on the Field, food and drinks and live entertainment.

Clifton saw around 35mm of rain fall on Wednesday and none on Thursday.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a 95 per cent of showers on Friday and on race day, Saturday, a 90 per cent chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon.

There is a chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe.

If the weather does turn for the worse, contingency plans are in place to hold a phantom meet.

Those who did not attend the races last year should know a large undercover area has been constructed which will shield attendees from the elements.

It is safe to say it would be wise to dress appropriately for wet conditions.

Stay tuned for updates on the Clifton Races Facebook page.
