Clydesdales get behind Chelsea
On Saturday the Western Clydesdales raised funds for much loved club character Chelsea Middleton who was placed in an induced coma after being involved in a car crash two weeks ago.
With a tough game against team to beat, Burleigh Bears, the Western Clydesdales started strong, going into the break with only four points between the 6th placed Western Clydesdales and the now first place Bears.
Apparently emotions were running high, with Chelsea still front and centre of the club’s minds.
Club president Alex Pagonis told The Clifton Courier that aside from donations to the fundraiser, the Burleigh Bears players brought the Clydesdales into a huddle to present them with a bracelet they had made for Chelsea.
The outpouring of support from otherwise rival clubs has touched everyone involved.
“Easts got together, they’re otherwise, you know, pretty violent competitors when they come up against us, but they got together and made a video where they each had a message for Chelsea,” Mr. Pagonis said.
“She’ll look back and see it, and how many people have been behind her though.”
Chelsea is currently slowly progressing out of the coma, and has moved out of intensive care.
Doctors are currently waiting for her to wake up to see what the next steps of Chelsea’s recovery will look like.
