Council drops by for afternoon tea
Toowoomba Region Deputy Mayor Geoff McDonald visited the Oakey Community Barbecue with five other councillors to catch up with locals and grab a sausage and soup.
The PCYC Oakey Community Barbecue was a hub of activity on Thursday afternoon, as half of Toowoomba Regional Council car-pooled for a trip to Oakey to touch base with people in town.
Deputy Mayor Geoff McDonald was joined by Councillors Megan O’Hara Sullivan, Carol Taylor, James O’Shea, Bill Cahill and Kerry Shine who enjoyed the afternoon tea that kids in Oakey swing by for each week.
Also dropping by were Dave O’Dwyer and Rebecca Meacham from New Hope Group, along with many members of the community, who had come out to say g’day to the councillors for their visit.
The Oakey Community Barbecue offers free sausages and bread, and drinks along with baked goods every week at the Rotary Park from 3 to 4pm.
