Council roadworks continue south of Oakey, Brimblecombe Road creek crossing done
Roadworks are continuing on the Oakey-Biddeston Road and Oakey-Crosshill Road until August, but the Dry Creek crossing on Brimblecombe Road is now finished.

The Oakey-Biddeston Road Stage 2 Project is the main ongoing project being undertaken by Council and signs on the Warrego Highway indicate that the road is closed to all bar local traffic.
Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokes-person, Cr Carol Taylor explains that the Stage 2 works on this project involve upgrading the roadway to an eight-metre sealed formation from the Oakey Creek bridge to the intersection of Oakey-Biddeston Road and Oakey-Crosshill Road.
“These works will follow on from the Stage 1 upgrade works from the Warrego Highway to the Oakey Creek bridge crossing,” Cr Taylor said.
“Stage 2 also involves reconfiguring the inter-section of Oakey-Biddeston Road and Oakey-Crosshill Road to change the through route to Oakey-Biddeston Road.
“This will result in a new T-intersection being formed with Oakey-Crosshill Road, which will improve the intersection angle and safety for all road users.
“The project should be completed to an initial seal stage by August/September 2025 and will reopen to traffic at that time, weather permitting.
“The final seal will then be applied in late 2025 and will be completed under traffic with traffic control in place.
“Council is appreciative of the community’s patience as we undertake this vital upgrade project.
“The project is funded under the Australian Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP) and Toowoomba Regional Council. Council is very appreciative of this funding.
“SLRIP funds infrastructure projects that improve the productivity and safety outcomes of heavy vehicle operations across Australia.”
Works are also ongoing at Oakey-Crosshill Road near the intersection of Toowoomba Cecil Plains Road, where a crash occurred last week.
Brimblecombe Road’s Dry Creek crossing at Wellcamp is now open.
Note - an earlier version of this story incorrectly referred to the Brimblecombe Road Westbrook Creek crossing. The creek Brimblecombe Road crosses is Dry Creek, which is a tributary of Westbrook Creek.
