It was all the way back in 2021, when centre Ciesiolka, who had made the switch from the national rugby sevens set up during 2020, was joined by cousin Jada at the Broncos.

Ciesiolka says it’s awesome getting to play with a family member she grew up with.

“It’s not every day you get to play alongside your cousin, let alone in the NRLW and for such a great club,” she said.

“It’s definitely an honour and something I am sure the family are very proud of.”

The cousins reached another joint milestone when they played together for Queensland in the recent Women’s State of Origin series.

Having suffered a Grade 3 (complete rupture) MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury during Game 3 of Origin, Ciesiolka will be out of at least the first month of competition, meaning an on-field family reunion will have to be put on hold.

“I’m just taking it day by day and doing my best to get it right and to recover,” she said.

While Ciesiolka won a premiership with the Broncos in 2020,  the pair has yet to claim a title together.

Brisbane won the minor premiership in 2024, but were ambushed by the Sharks at home in Week 1 of the finals series and will be eager to prove they are up to the pressure that knockout matches provide.
