Cowboys to good for Wattles
In Round Seven of the 2026 Toowoomba Rugby League (TRL) competition, Warwick Cowboys again had the upper hand in the Southern Downs derby.
The final scoreline read Warwick 22 defeating Wattles 12.
The A Grade Cowboys remain undefeated in the Hutchinson Builders TRL competition after a gritty win over second placed Wattles in the match at Father Ranger Oval in Warwick on Saturday night.
Wattles led with 18 minutes to go before three tries by the home side sealed the win.
Ben Sullivan, along with Ben and Dan Howard set up the win.
Both Howards were superb, with Dan scoring a match winning sideline try with three minutes remaining after some excellent work from Dan Macumboy and Sam Wainwright.
The game was worthy of the “Top of the Ladder” clash.
Wattles led 12-6 before Cowboys classy back line got into gear.
It was a game played in greasy conditions with both sides turning over easy possession during the game.
Kai Duggan and Adam Tuivavae-Gerrard never stopped for the Warriors.
Wattles had two players sent for ten minutes stints during the game.
It proved to be an excellent game in front of Warwick biggest crowd of the season.
Warwick find themselves three games in front on the ladder but they have a bye next round.
They have secured a berth in this year’s Madsen Rasmussen final.

Reserve Grade
In the Reserve Grade clash, Warwick Cowboys defeated Wattles Warriors 22 points to 6.
The Cowboys went to the sheds at half time leading 12-nil and were strong throughout the match.
Under 19
The Under 19 fixture was also a home town success, albeit a lot closer than the other two games..
The Warwick Cowboys defeated Wattles Warriors 26 to 22.

THIS WEEKEND
Wattles will be at Platz Oval to play host to the Dalby Diehards this coming weekend.
There will be four games played.
The day starts with an Under 17s game at 10am, followed by the Under 19 match at 11.30.
The Reserves will take to the field at 1pm and the main A Grade fixture, which will see the Warriors and Diehards playing for the Rod Frahm Cup, is scheduled for 2.30pm.
The day’s events at Clifton will be staged under the banner “Lozza’s Legacy”, in memory of former Wattles Juniors League Tag player Lauren Smith.
It will be a fundraiser for Epilepsy Queensland to assist research into SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).
Lauren passed away in April 2024 as a result of the condition.
