A large quantity of illegal tobacco was seized and a number of persons involved in the selling of these products were dealt with by Queensland Health.

Products seized included cigarettes, chopped tobacco, vapes, cigars and glass pipes.

The selling of these items is illegal in Australia and there are large penalties for those who manufacture, import, sell or store these items.

Sergeant Tim Hoffmann, Officer-in-Charge at Pittsworth Police Station, said he welcomed the intervention of Queensland Health and its focus on this type of activity.

“The buying of these goods from these persons supports organised crime groups who use profits for other criminal activities,” he said.

“We ask that the general community keep that in mind when making these purchases and remind them that they are committing offences by buying the items as well.”
