Crafting compassion at Pittsworth Women’s Shed
It’s hard to comprehend that the Pittsworth Women’s Shed, located in the grounds of the Pioneer Historical Village (in Pioneer Way), creates over 500 handmade items every single month to be donated to various organisations and charities.

The group has made turbans for St. Andrew’s Hospital oncology patients, breast pillows and seatbelt straps for women who have undergone a mastectomy, toiletry bags for recently released men from prison, burpees and beanies for premature babies, scrub hats for nurses, clothes for homeless and foster children, and so much more.
Hours are spent inside the shed, preparing these handmade items with care and precision.
They’ve just received an order for 700 burpees for babies at the hospital.
Recently, members of the Women’s Shed created waterproof covers for urinary drainage bags, helping to preserve the dignity of people who require this medical device.
If you are in need of a unique item such as this, the Women’s Shed is more than happy to assist.
More than just a sewing group, the Women’s Shed is a place for ladies of all ages to come and enjoy fellowship and terrific morning teas.
You don’t need to have any skills or interests in sewing or crafts.
The Women’s Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8am and 1pm.
