CSHS’s best ever result
It was a no-brainer to choose Stewart Statham as the 2023 Clifton State High School (CSHS) Dux, his ATAR score the highest ever for the school.
Stewart was officially acknowledged as last year’s Dux at the school’s Student Leadership Investiture.
As the school’s new hall facilities are still under construction, the event was held on the grassed area in the centre of the school.
The investiture saw the school’s student leadership for 2024 sworn in.
Stewart received an ATAR - Australian Tertiary Admission Rank - of 98, out of a maximum score of 99.95.
When presenting, the award, Head of Senior School Mr Adam Layton this puts him in the top two per cent of students statewide.
In addition to his workload in class at CSHS, Stewart also completed a subject online through the School of Distance Education.
Some of his legal studies work was of such a high standard that it will be used by the Queensland Department of Education as a benchmark for future students.
Stewart said he will be studying electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba and hopes to pursue a career in that field.
Stewart’s interest in the field, was sparked, a little bit, by his work in the physics classroom at CSHS.
“I’d like to thank my family, teachers and the school for allowing me to excel,” Stewart said.
