CWA Victoria Hill to close its doors
Sadly, QCWA Victoria Hill Branch will officially close on 30th June 2026 due to insufficient membership.
After 64 years the QCWA branch at Victoria Hill will shut its doors.
After a decline in numbers over the past few years, the branch has decided to officially close with only six members signed up for 2026-27.
Member Shirley Erhardt said QCWA Victoria Hill Branch was formed on 5th June 1961 with 29 members, which increased to 35 members by 1966.
”... today we have six members - one member works full time so really there is 5 however for the coming year of 1926-27 there will be only 3 members,” Mrs Erhardt said.
However, attesting to the legacy of the Victoria Hill branch, foundation member Annette Frizzell is still a member of the branch, while Shirley Erhardt has been a member for 60 years.
“To coincide with the closure of the Branch we are holding a free Farewell Morning Tea at Victoria Hill Hall on Friday 5th June at 10am - the 65th Birthday of the Branch,” Mrs Erhardt said.
An invitation is extended to all members of Branches in Border Division, and the local community to attend this bittersweet goodbye.
“It has been a wonderful caring Branch where sincere friendships have been made, however as time moves on life changes, we look forward to your attendance and company on 5th June,” Mrs Erhardt said.

Horton’s Bus Service will pick up from Clifton Senior Citizens Centre at 9.10am as a free service to Victoria Hill Hall.
Those wanting to travel on the bus should phone Colleen on 0407 656 871 by Wednesday 27th May to organise a seat.
