Danes women lose out in Semi-Final against Eagles

The Open Womens season has come to an end for the Danes after narrowly missing out on a place in the Grand Final. The team travelled to Highfields to face off with last year’s Premiers in a well contested Semi-Final match on Saturday.

We took on Highfields, in what turned out to be a thrilling game right down to the final moments.

Sophie led out the team, players bursting with determination and ready to give their all.

Highfields quickly matched our energy, scoring two swift tries in the first 15 minutes, capitalising on errors.

We spent the first half defending our territory, and it would have been easy for the Danes to drop their heads but resilience shone through.

Alex and Sophie put in some outstanding defence efforts to keep us in the game.

Unfortunately, we  lost our five-eighth early in the game.

Janet stepped into the position and played a solid game for her team.

We went into half-time trailing 10-0, but we regrouped and came out with a united fire.

With some sharp footwork Ella and Amelia made impressive breaks.

Annika sneaked in a try, however the conversion was waved away.

Jess and Amelia both crossed the line but were disallowed.

We refused to back down, keeping Highfields scoreless in the second half, finishing up 10-4 to Highfields.

I couldn’t be prouder of this team - we have had an amazing season.

Thank you to my staff and extended staff.
