Driver charged after last week’s crash

A 23-year-old Oakey man has been charged by police with careless and unlicensed driving after a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway at Kingsthorpe on Monday morning, June 29th.

Both drivers involved in the crash were transported to Toowoomba hospitals for medical attention.

The Oakey man was charged with one count of careless driving and one count of unlicensed driving.

Police are conducting further investigations into whether the driver was under the influence of an illicit substance. Further charges are pending.

Oakey Police Report

Monday, June 29th

After a member of the public alerted police of suspicious behaviour, a 29-years-old woman from Oakey was located on a local Oakey Street and found to be possessing drug related property on her person.

She was charged with one count of possessing drug-related items.

Tuesday, June 30th

Oakey Police attended a local Oakey address and located drugs and drug items inside the residence.

A 28-yeas-old Oakey man was charged with one count of possessing dangerous drugs, one count of possessing drug utensils, and one count of possessing drug-related items.

Wednesday, July 1st

A Oakey man aged in his mid-20s was intercepted by police in town and was found to be driving under a disqualified driver’s licence.

The man was charged with one count of unlicensed driving.

Thursday, July 2nd

A 24-year-old man from Toowoomba was intercepted by police whilst he was driving in his vehicle on the Warrego Highway at Kingsthorpe.

After a roadside drug test, he was charged with one count of driving with a relevant drug in his saliva.

Saturday, July 4th

A 37-year-old Cecil Plains man allegedly stole a vehicle from Biddeston township and, soon after, was apprehended in Toowoomba.

He was arrested and charged with one count of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, two counts of stealing, one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, one count of driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, and one count of driving under the influence of liquor.

Traffic Operation

On Wednesday, July 1st, Oakey Police conducted a Traffic Operation with the assistance of Toowoomba Highway Patrol.

A static site was set up at Beale Street, Oakey.

In addition, high visibility mobile patrols were conducted by police within the Oakey township and surrounding rural roads, resulting in a decrease in the number of traffic offences and crashes.

The operation resulted in 180 roadside breath tests being conducted.

As a result, one charge was laid for drink-driving and six infringement notices were issued for various traffic offences.
