Equine seminar provides food for thought

Raff Group Clifton held another of its regular equine nutrition seminars recently, and although numbers were down from similar nights, the seminar was a highly successful and informative event.

Raff’s new massive storage shed was an excellent venue for the small but highly attentive group of horse owners at the equine nutrition seminar.
Raff’s new massive storage shed was an excellent venue for the small but highly attentive group of horse owners at the equine nutrition seminar.

As at previous seminars, the guest speaker was Holly Mills from Mitevite Equine Foods and as usual she had the audience’s full attention as she expertly explained the complexities of the equine digestive system.

Holly then explored the nutritional requirements of horses at the various stages of life from broodmares, weanlings, to yearlings and performance horses.

Any discussion on horse nutrition requires the topic of roughage in the diet to
be examined and Holly
again covered the use of hay in the diet and the importance of correct and sufficient hay.

The degree to which the small audience of roughly twenty-five horse owners found the presentation useful was evident in the level of questioning that was put to the presenter throughout the evening.

Several members of the audience enjoyed receiving prizes and most horse owners took advantage of big discounts  on  horse food offered on the night by the Raff store in Clifton.

Regardless of the level of experience in feeding horses, these equine nutrition evenings are useful for all horse owners.
