Rosalie exhibition gives form to imaginary creatures and worlds
Pigeon Teeth, an imaginative exhibition by Toowoomba artist Aaron Hine, is now display at Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery.

Aaron’s ink and acrylic works capture a moment in the life of a creature or world, inviting the viewer to imagine what comes before and what comes after that moment in a wider story.
Each piece is a single frame of a larger tale.
“The name ‘Pigeon Teeth’ is basically something you can imagine in your head but really shouldn’t exist,” Aaron said.
“Likewise, the subject matter of my pieces are things that exist in imagination only - you wouldn’t want to meet them in real life”.
Aaron Hine’s work gives form to concepts, myths and thoughts.
His pieces are heavy with narrative.
Each piece is a sliver, a snapshot of a larger story.
Aaron works with upcycled wood and second-hand frames in a bid to reduce his environmental footprint.
One piece has been created on the canvas of a solar panel, while others were made on crates from Tony’s Kitchen.
Aaron is inspired by the work of Jamie Hewlett, Sean Aaberg and particularly Jean Giraud’s designs in Dune.
Pigeon Teeth is his third solo exhibition, having started taking his art more seriously in 2023.
Aside from his own works, Aaron also runs DIY workshops, and recently hosted a workshop in a rundown house in the dark in Toowoomba.
Aaron won the right to exhibit at Rosalie Gallery after he “impulsively applied to Council”.
He was impressed by the way Gallery staff offered to do the legwork in setting up the exhibition.
“I just pulled up in the Corolla and Council set it up,” he said.
Later this year, Aaron is heading to Wooloowin in Brisbane to take part in an exhibition at the Impress Printmakers Studio and Gallery.
At the Meet the Artist Event, Aaron was joined by partner Jodie Handley, an accomplished embroidery artist.
Pigeon Teeth has been commended by well-known Toowoomba artist Evan Hollis, who was in attendance at the event.
