St. Joseph’s Primary School Millmerran awarded a number of their students for demonstrating the heart of Catholic education through their commitment to faith, learning and service.

In Pittsworth, St. Stephen’s celebrated Catholic Education Week with a mass and morning tea for Grandparents’ Day.

A student from each class was nominated to receive the Spirit of Catholic Education award.

These students were recognised for living out the values of faith, hope and love in everyday actions.

The recipients were:  Charlotte N. (Prep), Lucas D. (Prep/Year 1), Elsie L. (Year 1/2), Quinn B. (Year 2), Libby T. (Year 3), Sam N. (Year 4), Patrick M. (Year 5), and Isla L. (Year 6).

A special milestone was celebrated in recognition of one of the school’s dedicated staff members, Mrs Kathy Follington, for her 25 years of service in Catholic Education.

“Her commitment, care and contribution to the students is deeply appreciated,” a St. Stephen’s Primary School spokesperson said.

The ‘Couldn’t Do It Without You’ award, which is given by the Catholic School Parents Queensland (CSPQ) - Diocese of Toowoomba, was received by Jackie Bligh and Shelley Ford.

This award recognises outstanding volunteers from each of the 32 diocesan  schools.

According to the school spokesperson, Ms Bligh and Ms Ford contribute to the school in countless ways and truly embody the spirit of service.

“Their generosity and dedication make a lasting impact on our school community every single day,” the spokesperson said.

The week ended with students attending the Catholic Schools’ Touch and Netball Carnivals on Thursday, followed by a pupil free day on Friday for Bishop’s Inservice Day.

The 2025 theme of Catholic Education Week was ‘Communities of Faith, Hope and Love’, highlighting the enduring values that shape Catholic schools and the diversity of the 313 school communities and 29 kindergartens educating more than 162,000 students across Queensland.
