Float a name for the raft

The Pittsworth & District Men’s Shed needs a name for the raft it intends to float 600 kilometres along the mighty Murray River in Victoria as a fundraiser for It’s a Bloke Thing and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Trevor Gull, Eddie Fuhlbohm, Merv Hinneberg and Kevin Bond had the raft on display at the Pittsworth Show. The search is on for a suitable name for the vessel.

School students across the district are invited to enter a name for the raft and the winner will be announced at the Car Show on April 23 at the Pioneer Village.

Skipper and project manager Merv Hinneberg  hopes some clever souls  might put their thinking caps on to come up with a fitting moniker for the raft - perhaps taking some inspiration from the river itself or from Pittsworth or from the wildlife or communities with a relevant connection.

To enter, send your idea for a name to The Sentinel via email to editorial@pittsworthsentinel.com.au or drop it into the office on Yandilla Street.

A winner will be chosen by The Men’s Shed and will receive a Pittsworth Dollars card loaded with $100 to be spent at the local business of their choice.

Momentum is growing around the project with many Men’s Sheds keen to host members of the local club on their travels south.
